Learn Sketching, 3D Modeling, Assembly & 2D Technical Drawing Step by Step!
Overview
Welcome to Complete FreeCAD for Beginners – No Experience Needed, a hands-on course designed to take you from absolute beginner to confidently designing, assembling, and drafting real-world mechanical models using FreeCAD — a powerful, free, and open-source CAD tool.
What you'll learn
This course is ideal for beginners with no prior experience in CAD. You’ll start by learning how to navigate FreeCAD’s interface, switch between workbenches, customize the workspace, and understand how FreeCAD handles documents, views, and display styles. You’ll then move into the Sketcher Workbench, where you’ll learn how to create and constrain a variety of 2D geometries, including lines, arcs, splines, slots, rectangles, and more.
As you progress, you’ll build real-world 3D models using features like Pad, Pocket, Revolve, Loft, Pipe, Groove, and Helix. You’ll also work with advanced modeling tools like patterns, fillets, chamfers, draft angles, and shell features. You’ll learn to create and manage datum planes, axes, and local coordinate systems for more complex models.
The course also covers FreeCAD’s Assembly Workbench, where you’ll create both top-down and bottom-up assemblies using standard mechanical joints like revolute, slider, cylindrical, and ball joints.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to confidently sketch, model, assemble, and document your mechanical designs in FreeCAD.
